Google announced the return of DevFest for 2026, scheduling the community-run conference series to run from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31. The company expects nearly one million software engineers and builders to participate across more than 800 separate gatherings worldwide.
Google Developer Groups organise and host each gathering locally across 115 countries. While Google provides backing, local chapters curate individual agendas to address the technical requirements of their specific regional tech ecosystems.
Organisers framed the 2026 season around the theme "Build, Secure, Scale: Developers and Builders in the Agentic Era." Events will focus on live codelabs, technical workshops, and agent-athons aimed at providing direct experience with developer software.
Sessions will center on tools across Google's developer stack. These include Gemini, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, Google Cloud, Firebase, Android, Flutter, Angular, and Web MCP.
Event programming follows three stated operational tracks. One track covers rapid prototyping and deployment tools. A second track centers on deployment safety, data privacy controls, and responsible AI guardrails to preserve system stability. The third track addresses scalable deployment using Google's production infrastructure and foundational models.
