Google introduced real-time football features to Search on Wednesday, adding live game feeds, expanded statistical tracking, and fantasy roster integrations ahead of the U.S. football season.
The Live Game Feed covers professional football on mobile devices for English-language users in the United States. Searching for an active game marked with a red "Live" icon displays an overall recap alongside a dynamic timeline featuring play-by-play updates, social commentary, video highlights, and AI-powered insights. Google plans to expand the feed to college football and international audiences later in September.
Matchup searches now include a carousel showing scores across the entire league without requiring separate queries. Google also added detailed statistics showing league leaders in passing touchdowns and rushing yards, alongside individual metrics such as sacks, fumbles, and yards after catch. Playoff brackets and championship winner predictions will launch later, with the statistical tools and matchup carousel deploying globally on mobile.
Fantasy sports participants can link Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper accounts to Search through AI Mode. After connecting an account, the system pulls roster data across multiple leagues to offer recommendations without manual inputs or screenshots.
The system evaluates draft picks, recommends waiver wire acquisitions, provides weekly league recaps, and delivers start or sit guidance. Google restricted the fantasy football connection feature to English-language users in the United States, with user feedback collected via thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons inside the interface.
