NVIDIA announced a five-year, $250 million compute commitment to strengthen agentic safety and security research across the United Kingdom. The chipmaker said it is expanding its financial backing of British companies with planned investments in five startups alongside new industrial deployments.
NVIDIA named the five recipients as Boltz, Foresight, Hiverge, Prima Mente, and Riverlane. London-based Boltz develops biomolecular models and autonomous agents to predict molecular structures and design medicines, while Prima Mente builds foundation models targeting complex conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. Cambridge-based Hiverge, founded by researchers from Google DeepMind and the University of Cambridge, builds an automated engine to write and optimize algorithms for training tasks and logistics. London-based Foresight designs tools for major infrastructure builders to forecast project completion dates, and Cambridge-based Riverlane produces hardware and software for real-time quantum error correction across qubit architectures.
The company also joined the Earthshot Prize as a Global Alliance Founding Partner. Under that agreement, NVIDIA will provide compute resources and technical staff to teams developing sustainability and climate projects.
Healthcare and Energy Deployments
British energy provider Fuse Energy is migrating its customer-support artificial intelligence to in-house servers powered by NVIDIA B300 Blackwell Ultra chips. The system serves more than 450,000 domestic households.
Healthcare organizations across the country are rolling out specialized systems using NVIDIA software frameworks. Software vendor OneAdvanced deployed a primary care triage model built with the NVIDIA Agent Toolkit to serve National Health Service patients, while clinical software maker Heidi integrated Nemotron open models for medical evidence retrieval. Speechmatics launched Oak, a multilingual medical transcription model that runs on Triton Inference servers to keep patient recordings within private data boundaries. In London, Apian and Synnovis are using simulation software called NVIDIA Cosmos to train mobile hospital robots that transport laboratory samples.
Life sciences conglomerate Danaher is integrating BioNeMo open models into an automated laboratory workflow. The setup combines automated instruments with protein design models to accelerate the discovery of affinity reagents by up to eight times.
Civic and Financial Deployments
Local authorities are adopting localized infrastructure models. Liverpool City Region is constructing what it terms a City Brain using NVIDIA hardware, which local administrators plan to offer as a blueprint to other regional authorities, while Digital Jersey, Innovation City Belfast, and the Tees Valley Combined Authority are assessing community computing systems. Locai Labs separately released Nemotron-Personas-UK, an open dataset containing one million synthetic profiles that reflect regional and cultural demographics.
Commercial banks are testing foundation models across retail and wholesale operations. Revolut moved PRAGMA, a sequence model trained on 26 million anonymized banking records, from testing into live production. Lloyds Banking Group built a transaction-processing foundation model designated ATUM, Starling trained a proprietary model on Civo cloud systems, NatWest is evaluating Nemotron Voice for regional speech recognition, and Modulr deployed automated software agents to manage payment operations. Global market infrastructure operator LSEG is pairing with NVIDIA on accelerated analytics for investment clients.
NVIDIA confirmed that more than 3,100 British businesses currently participate in its Inception startup program. Chief executive Jensen Huang will outline further European computing projects during a keynote address at GTC Berlin scheduled for Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. CEST.
