Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan bought Strancally Castle and its surrounding 440-acre estate in Ireland, TechCrunch reported. Both TechCrunch and The Verge independently confirmed the purchase, which closed several weeks ago according to an initial report by The Irish Times.

While the exact price of the purchase was not disclosed by the buyers, the family could have paid anywhere between €20 million and €30 million for the 16,000-square-foot residence. The castle was previously restored by its former owners, Michael Alen-Buckley, a co-founder of a private investment company, and his wife, Giancarla. The historic structure dates back to around 1830, when it was originally built for a Tory MP.

Brian Baker, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg, issued a statement detailing the family’s intentions for the newly acquired estate. “Mark and his family look forward to caring for this historic home and visiting when traveling to Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters,” Baker said. Reports from The Irish Times indicate it is understood that Zuckerberg and Chan will not move abroad and will still reside in the US.

The Irish estate represents the latest addition to a large collection of personal real estate holdings. Zuckerberg reportedly owns more than 11 properties in Palo Alto, along with separate properties located in Florida, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii.
