NVIDIA announced a series of platform and feature expansions for its GeForce NOW cloud gaming service at Gamescom, introducing cloud-based DLSS 4.5 controls and widening device support.
The DLSS 4.5 integration will arrive this fall for Ultimate tier subscribers, NVIDIA said. The update introduces cloud controls for DLSS Super Resolution to sharpen image quality, Dynamic Frame Generation to reduce latency and stutter, and Ray Reconstruction to enhance ray-traced lighting. Ultimate members stream on RTX 5080-class cloud hardware, supporting resolutions up to 5K high dynamic range on compatible setups.
Device and browser support
NVIDIA added official browser support for Mozilla Firefox on Windows, enabling members to play supported PC games directly through the web client without installing a standalone app. Ultimate subscribers playing through Firefox can stream at up to 1440p resolution and 120 frames per second.
Hardware access is also expanding across both the Steam and Amazon ecosystems. GeForce NOW will add support for Steam Machine with the Steam Controller later this fall, with subsequent support planned for Windows and macOS alongside existing Steam Deck functionality. On television devices, the service will soon roll out to the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select, while Amazon plans to introduce direct in-device GeForce NOW membership purchases later this year.
A single sign-on integration for GOG is now live, allowing users to link their accounts once to automatically sync and launch titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt without entering credentials each session.
Upcoming game additions
Five major titles are slated to arrive on GeForce NOW on their respective launch dates: Remedy's CONTROL Resonant, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Bandai Namco's The Blood of Dawnwalker, and STAR WARS Zero Company. NVIDIA is bundling a copy of CONTROL Resonant at no extra charge with purchases of 12-month Ultimate memberships made between August 25 and September 27.
New releases joining the cloud library this week include Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and access to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 open beta weekend. NVIDIA also confirmed that day pass purchases can be applied directly toward full membership tiers.
