Fairphone began selling its Fairphone 6 Plus smartphone directly to US customers on Tuesday for $649.99, TechCrunch reported. The unlocked device is available on Amazon and Fairphone’s website, with network support for both T-Mobile and AT&T. In Europe, the handset costs €649, representing a €50 increase over the prior model.

Previous models dating back to the Fairphone 4 reached the US market exclusively through a partnership with Murena running /e/OS software. That arrangement priced last year’s Fairphone 6 at $899. The new direct-sale 6 Plus ships with standard Android 16 and includes software support commitments through 2033.

Hardware upgrades on the 6 Plus include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and 12GB of RAM. The rest of the hardware matches the standard Fairphone 6, featuring a 6.31-inch OLED screen, a dual rear camera, a 4,415mAh battery, and 256GB of internal storage with microSD expansion support up to 2TB.

Fairphone will sell replacement components directly to US buyers, charging $7.99 for a SIM tray and $89.99 for a replacement display. The handset disassembles with a single Torx T5 screwdriver and supports modular screw-on accessories, including a card holder and lanyard in a new Cobalt Blue finish.

The direct phone launch follows the arrival of the company’s Fairbuds XL headphones on Amazon US last November. Fairphone plans to release a second-generation set of earbuds, the Fairbuds 2, in the fourth quarter of 2026, with additional details scheduled for October.
