Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during its event on Wednesday, according to TechCrunch. Both phones arrive in deep black, silver, “glacier,” and burgundy, featuring color-matched back glass.
Pricing and availability
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, marking a $100 increase over the iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 for 256GB. Apple offers both models in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations. Preorders begin on September 12th, and availability follows on September 18th.
Silicon and hardware
Apple built the new A20 Pro chip on 2nm technology with a 6-core CPU that includes two desktop-class super cores and four efficiency cores. Sribalan Santhanam stated that the 7-core GPU provides a 40 percent increase in performance. Apple added a second neural engine, bringing the total to 32 NPU cores.
Rich Dinh noted that the iPhone 18 Pro includes a next-generation vapor chamber with three times the surface area of the previous model. Video playback reaches 36 hours for the iPhone 18 Pro and 45 hours for the 18 Pro Max. Wired charging provides a 50 percent charge for the iPhone 18 Pro in 15 minutes, while five minutes of wired charging gives the 18 Pro Max seven hours of video playback.
Camera upgrades
Apple equipped the iPhone 18 Pro with a 48-megapixel variable-aperture main camera that uses six blades. The aperture opens wider in dark environments to speed up night mode captures. Users can also record 4K time-lapse videos in Dolby Vision HDR and utilize pro controls to adjust shutter speed.
