Nature reported on September 9, 2026, that researchers are using bacterial couriers to transport drugs directly into cancers. The report identified six advances designed to change how pharmaceuticals reach biological targets. Beyond bacterial transport into tumors, the techniques include drug-delivering particles built to cross the blood–brain barrier, nasal vaccines designed to intercept pandemics, and methods directing molecules into subcellular compartments. Engineers are also developing longer-lasting formulations to replace recurring treatments with single doses.
